Proverbs 30:8-9 – Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
Here are the words of Agur…a prayer unto the Lord to live with integrity (and balance) in His presence. When many people are asking God for more success, money, and power, Agur prayed that he have neither poverty nor riches and to be fed with food that’s convenient for him. When many people are waiting for their ‘overflow’ of blessings, Agur desired to remain in a state where he would neither deny the Lord or take His name in vain through His actions.
Living such a life before God would build:
Living a life where you have neither poverty nor riches means that you always have just what you need when you need it – not what you want when you want it.
Trust in God to meet your needs even when there isn’t an abundance of money in your savings account. When bills come, God provides a way for them to be paid (legally).
Allow peace to fill you, knowing God will always provide for you. He knows what you need (Matthew 6:25-34) and He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). You no longer worry about things you had in the past because you know that God will make a way, even if/when you don’t see it.
Let your life and faith grow in the Lord and walk in maturity. You will begin to count it all joy when you go through various trials and tribulations (James 1:2-4). You can thank God for His time of perfecting and molding you in the image of His Son (Romans 8:29).
True life isn’t found in the abundance of things for they will all pass away. True life is found in Jesus. Remain humble in His presence and before His people. Stay level.
