The Importance of Prayer – Dr. Young Hoon Lee (Yoido Full Gospel Church):
Prayer is ABSOLUTELY important to the life of a disciple!
Prayer is the conduit that we commune with the Lord. Through prayer we intercede for others and ask for the Lord’s will to be accomplished upon the earth.
Prayer is not something we should only do before eating, going to bed, or starting a church service. Prayer should be our life and breath before God – where our eyes are opened and our hearts are torn and mended in His presence.
Prayer should be something we make time for each day. It must be a priority to accomplish – not something we try to rush through to clear our conscience.
Psalm 63– O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes. But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.
The early hours of the morning are normally the most quiet of any day. Give yourself to prayer and study during those periods to meet the Lord, seek and thirst after Him, and be molded for His glory.
Learn the importance and power of prayer before the Father. Seek the Lord in prayer, not because you want something, but because you want more of Him, and you want to intercede for others. Prayer is an opportunity to be more intimate with the Lord and understand His desires, heart, and will.
May prayer become a glorious opportunity for you to spend time with the Lord and not a chore.
