There are many movies we would like to see because they provide an outlet of entertainment and fellowship. But as you seek movies for your enjoyment, you must consider the content and message of each. Many of the movies today contain images and messages that are ungodly. Cursing, sexual messages, nudity, senseless killing, blasphemy, etc. fill the box offices looking for our hard-earned dollars.
As children of God, we must be careful of the movies we support. The movies described above do not support or provide the godly lifestyle our Father desires us to live. It only keeps us connected to the world:
1 John 2:15-17– Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
See, the world craves after this sort of ‘entertainment,’ but not so for the Christian. We should allow what we see and hear to be edifying toward a godly walk in Christ before the world.
Matthew 6:22-23 – The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Psalm 51:8 – Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
Turn from those movies that contain negative images, dialogue, and messages that are ungodly. This life we live is not just about enjoying ourselves, but bringing glory to the Lord by delighting ourselves in Him, His Word, and His ways.
