The listing below illustrates the work of the Holy Spirit throughout the Scriptures. In the Bible, the term Holy Spirit is used in conjunction with Spirit of God, Spirit of the Lord, Spirit, Holy Ghost, and Spirit of Christ.
1. The Spirit of God dwells within men (Genesis 41:37-43; Judges14:5-7, Judges 14:18-20 , Judges 15:14, Judges 15:18-20, 1 Samuel 11:5-7, 1 Samuel 16:1-14, 2 Samuel 23:1-3; Isaiah 59:20-21; Ezekiel 2, Ezekiel 3:22-27).
2. The Spirit of God enables men (with wisdom and skill) to accomplish specific tasks (Exodus 28:3; Exodus 31:3; Exodus 35:31; Deuteronomy 34:9; Judges 3:9-11, Judges 6:33-35, Judges 11:29-40, Judges 13:25; Ezra 1:1-6; Proverbs 1:22-33; Ezekiel 2, Ezekiel 3:22-27; Daniel 5:11-15; Micah 3:7-9).
3. The Spirit of God will support His work upon the earth (Numbers 11:17; Numbers 11:25-29; Ezra 1:1-6; Nehemiah 9:19-21; Zechariah 4:5-7).
4. When the Spirit of God comes upon someone, it can be brought on with/for prophesying (Numbers 11:25-29, Numbers 24:1-3; 1 Samuel 10:6, 1 Samuel 19:19-24). There will also be prophets of the Lord speaking by the Spirit of God (Nehemiah 9:29-31; Ezekiel 11:4-6, Micah 3:7-9).
5. The Spirit of God will change the nature/character of a man (Numbers 27:18; 1 Samuel 10:5-11; 2 Chronicles 24:19-21).
6. Through the Spirit of God, the heavens and earth was formed (Job 26:12-14).
7. The Spirit of God made us (Job 33:3-5).
8. The ways of the Holy Spirit are unknown to us (Ecclesiastes 11:5).
9. The Spirit of God will rest upon Jesus (Isaiah 11:1-5, Isaiah 42:1-7, Isaiah 61:1-3).
10. The Spirit of God is not under human control (Isaiah 40:12-14).
11. The Spirit of God will protect us against all enemies (Isaiah 59:18-21).
12. The Spirit of God can bring you into His visions (Ezekiel 8:2-4, Ezekiel 11:1-3, Ezekiel 37:1-14, Ezekiel 43).
13. The Lord will put a new Spirit within man and give them a heart of flesh in place of their heart of stone, so that they walk in His statutes and will be their God (Ezekiel 11:15-20, Ezekiel 36:21-31, Ezekiel 37:1-14).
14. God will pour out His Spirit (Ezekiel 39:28-29). When poured out, His Spirit will cause sons and daughters to prophesy, old men will dream dreams, and young men shall see visions…even the servants and handmaidens will be filled (Joel 2:28-29).

5. The Spirit of God is an enabler (of power, wisdom, and skill) to accomplish specific tasks (Acts 10:38; Romans 15:18-21; 1 Corinthians 2:3-5; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 3:16-19; 1 Thessalonians 1:5; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
6. Through the Spirit, people will prophesy (Luke 1:67; Acts 2:18, Acts 21:11; 1 Timothy 4:1-3; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
7. The Holy Spirit will make intercession for us before the Father on our behalf (Romans 8:26-27; 1 Corinthians 14:1-18; Jude 1:20).
8. The Spirit of God will rest upon Jesus (Matthew 3:16, Matthew 26:40-45; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:22, Luke 4:14-24; John 1:32-33; John 3:31-36).
9. The Spirit of God is not under human control (John 16:13).

14. The Holy Spirit will give discernment/insight (Mark 2:1-12, Mark 13:11; Luke 1:22-32; Acts 11:28, Acts 21:3-5; 1 Corinthians 2:6-12).
15. We must be born of water and the Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God (John 3:5-8).
16. The Holy Spirit was given after Jesus was glorified (John 7:39).
17. The Holy Spirit will testify of Jesus (John 15:26; Romans 8:23).
18. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth (John 14:26, John 16:13; Luke 12:12; Acts 1:2).
