Many people strive to find a comfortable ‘place’ in their lives. They want to enjoy the fruits of their labor while living comfortable and secure. However, as ‘life’ can be, many experience hardships, trials, and pain instead of peace. As much as we try, the ‘sweet spot’ we desire seems so far away. We run from our trials as fast as we can to find our ‘sweet spot’ of peace – often without thought or regard to those around us.
Have you ever considered that the Lord uses our life circumstances to help us reach a different type of ‘sweet spot?’
Our trials are often used to stretch and build us to become all that God intends us to be. The ‘sweet spot’ of the Lord is one that is filled with obedience, praise, and glory to Him. It is a life that places itself in the center of God’s will inspite of the situations and hardships that are experienced around them.
James 2:2-4 – My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
The next time you’re facing some type of trial (and you’re thinking about running away), first consider what the Lord may be using the situation to develop within you (i.e. patience, love, humility). (Remember, there are some things the Lord brings to you and others you get into yourself – positive and negative.) Please understand that it is in the ‘sweet spot’ of the Lord that we are perfected through patience and God’s perfect peace. Stay in the sweet spot of the Lord (Psalm 119:165; Isaiah 32:17; John 14:27; Colossians 3:15)!
Consider:
What ‘sweet spot’ characteristic does the Lord wants to develop in you today?
Hebrews 12:11-14 – Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord
