Businesses work to become as large as they can. Churches are not to operate like businesses. A church should only grow as large as the Lord wills it to grow. Be obedient to the purpose, direction, and even size He calls your church to become, not what you desire because of ego (pride of life).
Do not look to the left or right to see what other churches are doing to compare and strive for what they have. Look up (to the hills) and focus on the purpose God assigned to you in this season.
If the Lord only wants your church to remain at twenty members, praise God for the honor and privilege to serve each person and love them as Christ loves the church.
Prayer: Lord, help me reach the people you called me to reach. Help me love the ones You have placed in my care. May I focus on the quality of each disciple You desire to be made in Your Son’s image rather than the growth of the church. I thank you for providing everything I need to accomplish Your will. I will follow the steps You have ordered for me and seek to please You through my obedience to Your will and purpose for my life. That is what is most important to me: fulfilling the call You have given. I love You Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
