Be where God wants you.
Let your light shine. Good works are not expensive and do not require any special gifts or talents.
God needs godly people in ungodly places to do godly things.
Each day we walk, drive, and work around people who do not know the Lord. God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son. May our hearts reach out to those among us to share our testimony and the Gospel, letting our light shine in the midst of darkness.
Matthew 5:13-16 – Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
SALT
Many have referred to salt as a cleansing agent or a preservative. When looking at the Greek translation for ‘lose his savor’ in Matthew 5:13, it is to make flat and tasteless, to be foolish, to act foolishly or act as a simpleton.1 The opposite of a fool is a sage or wise man. From this translation, being the salt of the earth is being the wisdom of the earth, godly wisdom and character.
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God loved THE WORLD so much that He gave His ONLY begotten Son! The world Jesus refers to encompasses all people, regardless of their status, race, beliefs, or conduct. Some people believe the world refers only to certain types of people…people that look, act, and believe as they do. to think God will only save certain types of people. Everyone else is not worthy of God’s love or forgiveness and deserve an eternity in hell.
Matthew 5:14-16 – Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
The couch may partially disguise the soldier’s uniform, but the solder is still a soldier. Many Christians often try to disguise who they are hoping not to draw attention to themselves (as Christians), but that’s not what Jesus intended. He wants us to stand out from among the world and be seen. He wants people to glorify His Father through our good works.
How can we be all we can for God if we’re hiding on the couch?
Matthew 7:6 – Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
When some people think about dogs and swine, they may think of evil sinners and others that mistreat or hate Christians. However, Matthew 7:6 pertains to ANYONE that is unable to appreciate or accept holy and precious gifts of God (knowledge, wisdom, etc.), even if they profess to be a Christian. Just because someone professes to be a Christian, their fruit will prove if they are (Luke 6:43-45).

1 Corinthians 9:19-22 – For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.
1. There’s more than ‘your’ way to share Jesus with others. Many people in the church believe there’s only one way to share the Gospel with others, their way. Whether the person is young, old, a banker, celebrity, or otherwise, they have one method to present the Gospel to each one. If the person does not accept their message or Jesus, then they walk away believing they’ve done all they could…but maybe there’s another way…
